PORVORIM: Even though the new academic year is scheduled to start on April 1, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has announced that the On-Job-training (OJT) for Class XI vocational students will take place in April itself.
Every year in April, the class XI vocational OJT takes place. With the permission of their parents, the students are placed in commercial establishments for a brief period of time to observe the real production line and workflow.
However, the department heads expressed grave concerns about OJT to the Board, given that the new school year will start on April 1.
The topic was covered in great detail by the Board of Studies for Vocational Courses and the relevant committees. The Board stated in a circular that instructed the schools to make the required preparations for the seamless implementation of OJT, “it has been decided that OJT in April will continue, as it is an integral part of the academic curriculum and activities.”
The Board has been implementing the OJT program since 2021.
