Goa Forward President Vijai Sardesai on Sunday said that the Opposition will move a adjournment motion in view of urgent matter of public importance under Rule 69 on COVID19 pandemic.
He further said that the Opposition will not allow the House to function if the Speaker does not allow the adjournment motion.
“Opposition cannot be a mute spectator to the murder of democracy that Government wants to commit in tomorrow’s one day assembly session,” he said.
He said the 36 deaths due to Covid19, which includes one of a 14 year old is a definite matter of urgent public importance which needs to be discussed
“The three-week session has been reduced due to COVID19 and the same issue is not discussed in the Assembly is a mockery of democracy,” said Sardesai.
He said the government has not listed the matter in the list of business.
“They have said in the business that they will pass the irrelevant budget. They have a record breaking agenda, they will clear all in just one day,” he said.
Sardesai said the need is to discuss on pandemic, environment and finance.
“…but they expect Opposition should keep silent. The government is trying to murder the democracy which we will not allow,” he said.
