PANAJI: Extending Independence day greetings today, Minister for Environment Shri. Aleixo Sequeira appealed to the student community to overcome all ill temptations such as drugs and other addictions and excel in studies making the society proud.
He was addressing the public after hoisting the national flag at South Goa Collectorate at Margao. Minister Sequeira said that it’s our prime duty to protect the environment. He also expressed the need for building the society on the principles of equality and fraternity.
Sequeira further said that Independence Day is not a just day but it is a celebration of principles of democracy, unity and sovereignty grounded in our culture. It also represents battles fought for freedom, sacrifices made by great leaders to achieve freedom from British rule in India. It is time to see our past and visualize our vision for prosperous country.
He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is putting tireless efforts towards making the country super power.
“Likewise Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant is striving hard for the growth and development of the State,” he added.
