Panaji: Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant today visited the Oxygen plants within the State, overseeing the production and distribution of oxygen to various hospitals including the future needs amid reports of shortage across the State.
Dr Sawant informed that the Oxygen Plant at South Goa District Hospital will be made operational by May 15, enabling it to self sustain its requirements to a great extent.
Dr. Sawant also addressed the people of the State live through social media informing the measures adopted to prevent the further spread of the disease with preventive steps to spread the virus by restricting public gatherings and activities.
Dr. Sawant accompanied by Dy. CM, Shri Chandrakant Kavlekar; Secretary, Shri Parimal Rai, IAS, Health Secretary, Shri Ravi Dhawan and other officials began the day by visiting the Coop Pvt. Ltd at Corlim, the major oxygen supplying unit to GMC and other hospitals across Goa where he took stock of the manufacturing capacity and it’s transportation for growing pool of patients.
Dr. Sawant along with other officials also visited the ESI Hospital, Margao apprising of the facilities, medical infrastructure, staff and shortcomings, if any, to ensure that proper and prompt medical facilities are made available to the Covid-19 patients. He also interacted with Doctors including Dr Edwin Gomes to verify the ground situation.
Later, Dr. Sawant also visited the Govind Poy Oxygen plant at Nuvem and another plant at Verna Industrial Estate, Verna.
