CALANGUTE: Cheryl Lobo was elected unopposed as Deputy sarpanch of Calangute, for which election was held at the panchayat office.
The presiding officer from the BDO office, Sushant Shetye, said that only one person filed her nomination.
Cheryl Lobo proposed her name by Francisco Rodrigues and was seconded by Pooja Matkar as there was no other candidate.
Cheryl was declared unopposed as Deputy Sarpanch of Calangute. During the election, only seven members were present; four remained absent, that is, Jyotsana Parulikar, Gabriel Fernandes, Sudesh Mayenkar, Rupa Chodankar remained absent for the election.
Last year, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided Cheryl’s husband’s Just Lobo restaurant in Calangute and arrested a Calangute resident who works with Just Lobo’s as a driver for his alleged involvement in supply of illegally imported curated narcotic drug marijuana (bud).
The case was related to DARKNET, from where the late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput and Rhea Chakraborty’s friends ordered the banned substances.
Fingers were being pointed at the owner of the hotel Villa Nova Lobo.
Sources in the NCB now told goemkarponn.com that the owner of Just Lobo’s, Villanova Lobo, has said that he has no knowledge even as dozens of parcels came at his restaurant address.
