PANAJI: Panaji Police have registered an offence against a man after his pet dog allegedly died due to extreme heat and lack of ventilation while being left inside a parked vehicle in the city.
According to police, the offence was registered on April 6, 2026 at 7:55 pm based on a complaint filed by Mr. Stephen Samuel of the District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Goa). The complaint stated that prior to 4:00 pm on the same day, the accused, identified as Bharath KC, son of Chandrashekhar KS, a resident of Saharash Nilaya, Maharaja Park Road, Hassan, Karnataka, had knowingly left his pet Golden Retriever inside his Kia Sonnet car.
The vehicle was parked at the parking lot opposite the old Directorate of Accounts in Panaji. Due to extreme heat and lack of ventilation inside the car, the dog reportedly suffered distress and died.
Authorities said the act amounted to cruelty to animals, and a case has been registered. Further investigation is in progress.
