QUEPEM: The three days vaccination drive starting yesterday at Our lady of Mother Poor High School Tilamol premises in Xeldem panchayat area, but the drive received poor response from the locals.
On the first day, only 40 people got vaccinated.
Sarpanch of Xeldem Caitan Lima said that there is poor response for Covid vaccination, especially in village area as compare to city area because there is lack of awareness.
“Many doubts have been created in the peoples mind about health safety. There are negative messages going around on vaccination in social media,” he said.
Sarpanch said that that before this vaccination drive “I visited my village and made aware about vaccination at Tilamol church hall, but I got negative response. Many of the citizens are not ready to take vaccination because many negative rumours are going around”.
Xeldem Panchayat secretary of Viddikar said that some of panch member told me that when they visited their ward to inform about vaccination drive people just rejected them saying they are not ready to take vaccination because there is some confusion.
Community Health Centre Curchorem Health Officer Mohan Rao Desai said that the Assolada panchayat already completed three days vaccination drive in the second phase of first dose of vaccination.
“On first day at Assolda panchayat 99 people took the vaccination, second day 44 people, third day 18 people compare to that In Xeldem panchayat first day 40 people taken Covid vaccination and second days it’s figure is 55,” he said.
