Panaji: Punjab Junior Women secured a hard fought five wicket victory over Goa Women in a low scoring league match of the 7th Rama Atray Women’s T20 Cricket Tournament 2026 at the DAV 8 Ground in Chandigarh.
Goa Women were sent in to bat after losing the toss and struggled early, slipping to 19/3 inside the opening four overs. Alisha Mehta and Shivani put Goa under pressure with timely wickets.
Vinavi Gurav then steadied the innings with a composed 29 from 24 balls, while Divya Naik added 26 from 39 deliveries. Goa found momentum towards the end through Tanaya Naik, who remained unbeaten on an aggressive 31 off just 21 balls. Her late contribution helped Goa reach 118/5 in 20 overs.
Punjab’s chase also began poorly, with Manya Sharma dismissed for five. Captain Khushnawal Kaur, however, took control of the innings and produced the defining performance of the match.
Kaur scored a crucial 50 off 43 balls, striking eight boundaries to keep Punjab on course. Akanksha Saini added 20 from 17 balls, while Manreet Aulakh contributed 19 to provide valuable support.
Goa captain Shreya Subhash Parab kept her side in the contest with an impressive spell of 2/28, while Harshita Yadav claimed one wicket. Punjab nevertheless maintained their composure and reached 119/5 in 19.1 overs, completing the chase with five wickets in hand.
Goa’s late resistance with the bat had given them a competitive total, but Punjab’s disciplined chase, led by Kaur’s match winning half century, ultimately settled the closely contested encounter.
