PANAJI: After the June 4 Lok Sabha election counting, there has been much speculation once again about a Cabinet reshuffle. However, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar has stated that he is ready to take on any new duties that the party assigns him.
“I swear to uphold the decisions made by the party (BJP). I’ve taken on whatever responsibility the party has given me, and I’m willing to take on more if they think I’m qualified for a new position, are happy with my work, and my efforts can benefit Goan society,” he declared.
Given that the reopening of schools falls on June 4 the day of the Lok Sabha election. Tawadkar has urged the government to delay the re-opening by 2 days.
“I’m getting a lot of calls asking me to let the government know about the challenges that government workers especially teachers assigned to counting duty will encounter. The chief minister will make the final decision, but the government may postpone it by one or two days,” he stated.
The chief minister, Pramod Sawant, and the director of education have declared that the reopening date of June 4 will not be altered.
