PORVORIM: The main suspect in the Rehban Khan murder case was apprehended by the Porvorim Police on Friday, and they claimed that a love triangle was the main motive for the killing.
Superintendent of Police (SP), North, Akshat Kaushal, IPS, said in an interaction with reporters: “At first, we had detained five people connected to the murder case, but the prime offender was evading capture.
“We apprehended the prime accused. He goes by the name Vikash Yada (22). Six arrests have been made in this case overall.”
“We’re looking at every possibility. In order to determine their roles, we are also questioning the girl and other individuals. The accused claims that during the altercation between the two lads, the deceased had some pictures of a female friend and that he was attempting to get him to remove them.
They got into a disagreement during their conversation, which swiftly escalated into a physical altercation in which additional persons joined in, ultimately resulting in his death, according to the SP.
According to him, there’s a chance that more persons were involved in the crime than just the ones who were arrested.
Kaushal said the crime was committed at two three places and finally the body was thrown near the Audit Bhavan.
On Wednesday, the Porvorim police arrested Khatesh Kandolkar, Suman Barik, Sachin Sahani, Tanay Kandolkar, and Sachin Singh, all in their twenties and residents of Candolim in connection with the case.
Rehbar Khan (22), a native of Uttar Pradesh, who was working with a hair-cutting salon at Alto-Porvorim along the Porvorim-Sangolda road, was found dead near the Audit Bhavan.
