MAPUSA: For allegedly cheating and stealing gold ornaments from a relative in Mapusa, Anjuna Police have filed a case against the woman.
The defendant has been identified as Mapusa resident Kalyani, also known as Kanchan Jitendra Harmalkar.
Vidhay Vishant Salgaonkar of Parra filed the complaint, which states that the crime happened between December 1 and December 31, 2022. According to the complainant, the accused—a relative—asked for her gold ornaments and promised to return them after using them for a purpose.
Mrs. Salgaonkar gave the jewels to the accused because she trusted them. In order to obtain a gold loan, the accused reportedly illegally mortgaged the jewelry at a bank and exploited them for personal gain.
Allegations of deceit and breach of trust resulted from the accused’s failure to return the ornaments despite repeated assurances.
The police have filed a case and started looking into the situation. In connection with the suspected fraudulent activities, authorities are attempting to retrieve the gold ornaments and confirm the bank transactions.
