MARGAO: The Goa Civic and Consumer Action Network (GOACAN) has strongly recommended that the government act quickly to fix the broken lifts in the Excise Office in Mapusa.
Because the elevators are broken, employees must ascend roughly 100 steps to get to the fifth-floor office of the Excise Inspector in Mapusa in order to complete their work.
In a letter addressed to the Bardez Deputy Collector, GOACAN Coordinator Roland Martins urged him to undertake a site inspection with representatives from the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department, PWD, Mapusa Municipal Council, and the electricity department in light of the non-operational lifts of a private building housing government offices.
Martins has pleaded with the authorities to act to lessen the difficulties the guests are experiencing. He stated that under the Consumer Protection Act of 2019, neglecting to fix the elevators will be considered a service deficiency.
