RIBANDAR: The continued road building for the Smart City project has angered and disappointed the residents of Ribandar-Patto, who believe it has done more harm than good.
Concerns over the subpar work have been voiced by the locals, who have accused the government of neglect and poor management.
Residents’ everyday trips are hazardous and challenging due to the significant damage to the area’s roads. There were no specialists there to supervise the building, the protestors said, and the job was done by unskilled laborers. They say the local MLA has not given any thought to their situation.
One of the primary complaints is that the construction has clogged the drainage system, which is old and dates back to the Portuguese era. Further problems as a result of this include waterlogging and the possibility of floods during periods of severe rain.
In the event that the required repairs are not finished by September 30th, the residents, who organized a demonstration, have threatened to block the roadways.
They have expressed their extreme dissatisfaction, saying that if things are this bad in Panaji, the state of other parts of Goa must also be very bad.
