MARGAO: South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha has demanded that the Government immediately start the mining operations in the State as many Goans are dependent on the mining industry.
“The BJP has been ruling the State for the last 9 years, and only during elections do they promise to start the mining. I Appel to CM Pramod Sawant, who comes from the mining belt, to restart the industry as fast as possible under the given guidelines of court,” he said, addressing a press conference.
He said the BJP had stopped mining, and because of that, people of Goa have suffered; many have lost jobs.
Sardhina also asked the CM and PWD minister to make good roads that should last for 3 to 4 years and not those that get damaged within a few months of doing work.
Sardhina also asked the Government to release the financial help to Covid victims and simplify the Covid relief scheme to vendors as they have to face so many difficulties to get the process done.
“The BJP government is fooling people by making fake promises as this is election year now by showing job carrots to voters. The Government should take eligible candidates and not the one who feels pockets of Ministers,” he said.
He said the Government should also declare the spots for sand mining in Goan rivers.
“Officers are harassing the people who extract sand. If sand mining is made legal, the Government will get revenue, and people will also earn as the sand is the necessity of the common man to construct houses,” he said.
