And to draw the attention of the authorities the locals of Marle-Tirwal have been boycotting the elections since 2019.
It may be recalled that all the voters numbering 221from these village had boycotted the General elections in 2019.
When the government authorities learnt of the election boycott by the villagers, than South Goa collector Ajit Roy IAS along with than Canacona deputy collector Pritidas Gaonkar, Mamlatdar Vimod Dalal, than PWD AE (Internal Roads) Elvis Fernandes had visited the village to convince them to partake in the election process and their demands will be looked into, it was promised.
During the interactive talk with the villagers, the Government officers were informed by the village elders that, till their basic needs are fulfilled no villager will participate in any election that will be held in the State.
Along with the demand for a 2.9 km motorable road, villagers had demanded underground electricity cabling, regular bus transport, piped water supply and a mobile tower.
