SATTARI: For the past 10 years, the Sattari village locals have been demanding hot-mixing of the 300-meter road on Hedode bridge in Sattrari, which poses a great risk for commuting.
The locals demanded hot mixing of the road, but their demands have fallen on deaf ears.
LOcals now say as the road comes under the forest department, the approvals for hot-mixing is delayed.
This road is used by many as it is a shortcut road connecting both Thane and Nagargaon panchayat areas from Hedode village.
Villagers also say that the bridge’s width also needs to be increased as the number of vehicles using the bridge has increased.
They say the Health Minister Vishwavajit Rane took the initiative to build a bridge over the river in 2006 at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore.
This bridge has solved the problems of the people from Hedode village moving into Valpoi town. The construction of this bridge was completed during the Congress government.
However, for the past 10 years, the 300-meter long road between Valpoi and Thane needs hot-mixing.
Locals say demands have been submitted at various levels, but there is no continuous follow up from officials.
Last time they said only rubbles were thrown during the bridge’s construction on this road, and now the soil spread on the stones has been completely washed away, making it very dangerous for two-wheelers and four-wheelers to cross this road.
Many tyre damages of vehicles have been reported at this place.
Citizens have demanded that the government pay serious attention to the road.
According to the citizens, due to their efforts, the road between Belgaum to Thane Panchayat area has been given permission by the Forest Department.
