PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed that the total expenditure incurred on the construction of Mopa Airport by GGIAL up to June 30, 2022, is Rs.2202 crore.
“Total expenditure incurred on construction of Mopa Airport by GGIAL up to June 30 2022, is Rs.2202 crore. The compensation awarded in Mopa Airport land acquisition is around Rs. 45 crores,’ said CM Sawant.
In addition, Chief Minister informed that Government has declared additional three times compensation to the persons whose lands have been acquired for the Mopa airport project.
He further said that there were 15 houses, out of which 01 family accepted compensation from the Government, and the remaining 14 families sought rehabilitation.
“Accordingly, Government rehabilitated 14 families in 207 of village Casarvarnem in Pernem Taluka. Each family is given 800 sqm. of land, a house of 100sqm and a cowshed/goat shed of 50 sqm. Besides, a community hall and crematorium are also constructed,” he added.
He further said that the total land under the Mopa airport project is 2133 acres.
Sawant had said that about 90 per cent of work of the Mopa international airport in the state has been completed.
Speaking in the state Assembly during the monsoon session on Wednesday, Sawant also said the airport at Mopa in the North Goa district would be commissioned “between August 15 and September 1 this year”.
