MARGAO: Mamlatdar Salcete, Talati, Salcete, Margao, Circle Inspector- I, and Pollution Control Board officials along with police protection began seizing 19 shops and hotels in Margao areas for not taking proper precautions against sewage water and control pollution in the vicinity.
The sealing was complying with the order of Mamlatdar Salcete Bhiku Gawas vide order No Mam/Sal Mag-I GSPCB/2024/1584 dated 15/05/2024 and as per direction under sec 33 (A) r/w sec 25, 26 of Water Prevention and Control of Pollution Act 1974 and sec 31 A with sec 21 of Air prevention and control of Pollution Act.
Following hotels/ shops were sealed (1) Furtardo Bar and Restaurant, Nr Railway Gate, Kharaband (2)Madgaum Café, Nr Cine Lata Margao(3)Bombay Café, Station Raod Margao (4) Sagun Hotel, Station Road Masrgao The (5) Star Hotel, Gandhi Market (6) Goa Guest House (7) Tony cold Drink ( 8) Amache Dukan, Malbhat (9) shop No B-2 C/o Shaikh Bepari beef shop, Gandhhi Market (10) Himalaya Ice Cream Parlor, Calconda (11) star chicken centre, Gandhi Market (12)Casmiro Bar, Malbhat (13) Laxmi Hotel, Malbhat (14) A-1 Fast food, Nr flyover bridge, (15) Breeza Hotel, Station road Margao, (16)Goan Bar, Calconda (17) Bharat Café, Nr Cine Lata (18) Tandoor restaurant, Nr railway Gate (19) Beef Centre, ShopNo G-8 Gandhi Market.
It is learned from Talati that advance notice had been issued to the shop/hotel owners regarding the sealing of their premises for not taking proper precautions against sewage water to control pollution in the vicinity.
However, some hotel/shop owners are unhappy with the above decision of the Pollution Control Board and requested that to revoke the above order.
