SALIGAO: The villagers of Saligao protested the bad condition of the road at Aradi (from Lourdes Convent School junction to Calangute Police Station junction).
Locals said the road which was dug up for the water pipeline has been left without repairs causing inconvenience to locals and commuters.
Shelu Fernandes of Saligao said the digging work for the pipeline started in March and ended in May yet the authorities or the contractor has not repaired the roads.
“With monsoons onslaught, the road has become unusable and as such many commuters have been injured due to falls on uneven roads,” he stated.
He said they would take up the issue with local MLA Kedar Naik, PWD and the CM Dr Pramod Sawant.
“We will decide the future course of action after meeting them and seeing their response,” he said.
Another villager Sandesh Chodankar questioned why the works were delayed.
“Did the authorities not know monsoons would come? Why did they delay work? Are they waiting for tragedy to happen?” He asked.
Panch member Balu Malik said he would take up the issue at the panchayat level and also at the gram sabha.
