SALIGAO: Saligao Police have registered Crime No. 32/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Goa Children’s Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act following a complaint regarding the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl in Saligao, Bardez.
According to police, the accused, a 22-year-old man originally from Katihar, Bihar and presently residing in Saligao, is alleged to have committed the offence on 01 May 2026 at a residential premises in the area. The complaint was lodged by a Saligao resident originally from Karnataka.
Police stated that during investigation, it emerged that the accused had reportedly come in contact with the victim through social media and later met her on multiple occasions. Further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events and circumstances leading to the alleged offence.
The accused was arrested on 16 May 2026 following due legal procedures and is currently in judicial custody. Statements are being recorded and evidence is being collected as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case is being probed under senior supervision, and police have confirmed that all relevant aspects are under detailed examination.
