DHARBANDORA: Sugarcane Farmers today said that they were not taken into confidence before handing over land for the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and are ready to approach the court if needed.
The farmers today met Sanjivani Sugarcane Committee President Advocate Narendra Sawaikar and Administrator Chintamani Perni.to discuss the issue.
“All the farmers were not consulted before handing over land for the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and are ready to approach the court if needed. We all are unhappy with the state governments decision,” said
The farmers further said that the state government wants to destroy the Sanjivani Sugarcane Factory
claiming that government had handed over 4 lakh sq meters and not 2.5 lakh sq meters to NFSU.
“The state government is playing with emotions of the farmers and that the decision to hand over land was taken without calling in for a general body meeting,” the farmers said
The South Goa Collector had officially handed over land, approximately 4 Lakhs sq.mts to Sanjivani Sahakari Sakhar Karkhan Ltd. Dayanandnagar, Dharbandora, for setting up the campus of National Forensic Science University.
The Union Home Minister Amit Shah had recently laid the foundation stone for the NFSU project.
