MORMUGAO: Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar has hit out at Vedanta for handling Coal at Mooring Dolphin Berth at MPT.
“Goa State Pollution Control Board with hand in glove and in connivance with coal handling Companies have extended the permission to handle Coal at Dolphin till 2023 despite BJP Governments written reply in the Assembly that permission for Coal Handling at Mooring Dolphin was upto December 2020,” said Amonkar
Amonkar has announced to raise the issue of Coal Pollution in Assembly , warns of taking a mass agitation with hundreds of people to stop Coal Operation in the Port if action is not initiated by Authorities
“CM had assured to reduce coal handling by 50 percent but instead the Government has planned double tracking to convert Goa into Coal Hub,” he added
He said that along with burning issues like coal hub, and double tracking, they will also question the government over failure to release financial aid under social welfare schemes and seafarers pension.
He said that corruption has taken place in the Atal Setu project and they will raise the issue in the Assembly.
“Government is trying to suppress the voice of the people by not providing information under RTI and now they have reduced the number of sub-questions to be asked in assembly to 5. Speaker should have at least allowed us to ask 8 or more questions. We will meet him in this regard, ” Amonkar said
