PANAJI:Aam Aadmi Party today strongly condemned the Dr Pramod Sawant government for not having any consideration for the common man and accused it of making life difficult for people due to the spiraling prices of everything in the market.
AAP spokesperson Adv Surel Tilve pointed out that the price of petrol has risen by Rs. 10 in the last six months during which period many people had lost their jobs due to the lockdown and small business ventures had to close down as people did not have money to buy anything.
“Instead of considering the fact that people do not have money to buy essential things the chief minister is making things more expensive thereby pushing people to starvation,” he said adding that Dr Pramod Sawant is not bothered about Goans but only concerned about his bosses sitting in Delhi and their friends.
Adv. Surel pointed out that during the lockdown period Dr Pramod Sawant has increased the electricity and water bills thus increasing the cost of living and pointed out that to make matters worse even the LPG cylinder price has now been increased to Rs. 783.
He lamented that even diesel prices have gone up and added this has a spiral effect in raising prices of all essential commodities as Goa imports practically everything including fruits and vegetables and the transportation prices increase with rise in fuel prices.
“Over and above all these problems power minister Nilesh Cabral has now threatened to disconnected power supply to houses that have not paid their bills for three months when the government itself is giving bills of three month at a time,” he said asking how the common man who lives a budgeted life is expected to pay these huge bills.
When the government does not have money to pay pension of people and has to borrow money from the market to pay salaries, from where does it expect the common Goan to have money to pay for such an expensive life, he asked.
While pointing out that AAP government in Delhi is providing free electricity, water, medical treatment and even travel for people living there, he said the BJP government is making life difficult for Goans by making it very expensive to live in Goa with Chief Minister paying Rs. 5000 only in his speeches.
