PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed the house that the Siddhi Naik case is still under investigation and it would not be appropriate to furnish papers relevant to the ongoing investigation
“Since the case is still under investigation, it may not be appropriate to furnish the copies of papers relevant to the ongoing investigation as the disclosure may affect the integrity of investigation and provision of law,” said CM Sawant.
He further said that the disclosure of information could hamper the process of investigation, and it would also endanger the life or safety of sources of information.
“It may disclose information which relates to personnel information of individual and which has been expressly forbidden to be published by law or the disclosure of which may constitute contempt of court,” he added.
Sawant informed that Calangute Police Station has registered Cr. No. 192/2021 u/s 302 IPC on December 28, 2021and, the case was transferred to Crime Branch for further focused investigation.
“The physical evidence collected has been sent to Goa Forensic Science Laboratory, Verna, for scientific analysis, and the expert report is awaited,” he said.
He said that CCTV footage has also been verified from relevant spots. Statements of more than 40 witnesses have been recorded.
“Investigation of the case is in progress. Goa Police is investigating the case on merit,” CM said.
