PANAJI: World Youth Skill Day is celebrated annually on the 15th of July. This year because of the ensuing State Legislative Assembly Session, the Government has celebrated the same on 11th July 2024 at Kala Academy.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant who is also the Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship was the Chief Guest and has inaugurated the State Level Programme on World Youth Skill Day today at Kala Academy at 10.00 a.m.
Students from NSQF (National Skills Qualification Framework) under the Samagra Shiksha Programme who are trained in various trades such as Health care, Tourism and Hospitality, Retail, Automobile, Agriculture, Media and Entertainment, Apparel, Beauty and Wellness, Construction, Telecom and IT have demonstrated their skills practically in the pavilion “Samagra Shiksha NSQF”. While talking to the successful and skilled entrepreneurs under NSQF the Hon’ble Chief Minister congratulated them and expressed his satisfaction with the quality of work of the whole team of Samagra Shiksha in the State of Goa.
A separate pavilion was set up for all the successful and skilled entrepreneurs (passed out from ITI’s). The Hon’ble Chief Minister talked to every such entrepreneur and discussed their future endeavours and has shown great satisfaction.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister stated that Goa is now proud to say that we have the best ITIs in the Country. It is pertinent to note that all 10 ITI’s in Goa have received ISO certification. There are five ITI’s namely ITI Farmagudi, ITI Bicholim, ITI Cacora, ITI Mapusa and ITI Vasco have been converted into Centre of Excellence and are now equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. TATA Technologies Limited has provided funds to the tune of ₹ 165 crores and the State Government has released matching grants for this project.
Swayampurna Mitras have always been in the field in their allocated Village Panchayats and Municipalities. It was because of Swayampurna Mitras that some of the Artisans were identified in remotest areas in Pernem and Sanguem who have also set up their Stalls in the Skill Exhibition at Kala Academy. The Shramjeevis/Vishwakarma, irrespective of their educational qualifications, even irrespective if they are literate or illiterate were enrolled under Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana in Goa. Such Shramjeevis were provided with ₹ 2500/-training allowance during their training period and an e-voucher worth ₹ 15000/- for the tools and equipment respectively.
Such beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana have undergone advanced re-skill and up-skill training at various ITIs in Goa. These Shramjeevis/Vishwakarma have set up their various stalls showing skills in their respective economic activities.
In all, there are around 40 successful entrepreneurs who have set up their stalls in the Skill Exhibition organised at Kala Academy on 11th July 2024. The Government has now decided that this Skill Exhibition to remain open from 10.00 a.m to 5.00 p.m every day till 15th July 2024 i.e. the actual date of World Youth Skill Day.
The Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation has requested the Director, Directorate of Education to request all the Principals, Headmaster/Head mistress to arrange for the trips of Students of Std VIII, IX, X, XI and XII to show them the Skill Exhibition at Kala Academy for the knowledge of students.
During the Programme, four such trainees who won the Medallion of Excellence in the National Skill Competition in New Delhi in 2024 were felicitated at the Hands of the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister lauded the Cooperation assistance and expertise shared by TATA Technologies Limited, Daikin AC Technology Limited, TAJ Cidade Goa Horizon, TAJ Group Goa, Jaquar and Putzmeister. During the programme, five Centres of Excellence (ITI) were virtually connected and three student trainees thanked the Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant for making the ITI’s Centre of Excellence and giving them the opportunity to become better technicians.
