SANKHALI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant suggested students shift their focus from traditional courses and explore alternative career options.
“Only ten per cent of parents will have the knowledge of career options for their kids, while 90 per cent of parents do not have the knowledge about the careers their children can take up, and this is a fact,” said Sawant.
He further said that BA, BCom, and BSc are not the only options. There are a lot of opportunities in defence, civil services etc,” Sawant added.
He said that the government should stress career counselling. “When I asked some students what they wanted to study, one said MBBS, another said engineering and the third said either MBBS or engineering. This is the reason children should know about the career options available,” Sawant said.
Sawant said that many parents are still confused about their children’s future in terms of what education to provide. He said that the Goa government has launched a career guidance initiative through Swayampurna Goa. S
He also said that there is a need for students to get an education keeping their future in front of them. CM was addressing the people at the inauguration of Dr. K.B. Hedgewar School at Sankhali.
