PANAJI: Spring Boys Mandopa lifted the 4th goa inter-village open football tournament Organised by Davorlim Sports and Cultural Club and played at Davorlim Club Ground Laymati by defeating Curtorim Boys 3-2 in the finals.
It was an excellent contest between Spring Boys Mandopa and Curtorim Boys in front of a large Sunday crowd. Curtorim Boys opened the scoreline in the 10th minute of the game through Milagres Fernandes while Costa of Mandopa equalised in the 24th minute with a powerful header from a corner kick. Half time score remained 1-1
Changing over Mandopa scored two goals in the 43rd and 47th minutes through Mallappa and Prestly while Curtorim pulled one goal back in the dying minutes of the game through joy.
Winners Spring Boys Mandopa received Rs.40,000 plus trophy while Curtorim Boys have to settle with 30,000 plus trophy.
Anthony Colaco (MPT) a social worker was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Peter Gonsalves, Fr. Domigos Noronha, Francisco, Nicolau, Adv. Prasad ,PSI Stanley Gomes and Caitan Costa welcomed the guest and Filomena Costa compared the function and other dignitaries were present
The following prizes were awarded Best goal of the tournament. Myrich Curtorim, Highest score of the tournament. Royson Colaco Davorlim, Best defender Malappa Mandopa, Best forward Velington Spring Boys, Player of Final and best forward Costa of Mandopa.
