PANAJI: The Scheduled Tribes Delegation today said that Goa Government has no political will to make political reservations for their community.
“When our delegation met the Centre representative, they said that the Goa government has not sent any proposal regarding reservations. Goa govt doesn’t have the political will to make reservations,” said General Secretary Rupesh Velip.
He further said that in the petition submitted to the Election commission of India, the delegation has warned the election commission India that if the demand of Political Reservation to reserve the seats in the Goa assembly and house of the people is not fulfilled immediately.
The delegation also submitted a representation to the Hon’ble President of India, Prime Minister of India, Minister for Law and Justice and Chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes by visiting their offices in New Delhi.
The delegation could not meet them as the appointment was not confirmed due to their busy schedule. The delegation will meet them soon after the appointment is confirmed.
The delegation also briefed them about the issue by sitting one to one with them, and they are 100% convinced that the demand raised by Scheduled Tribes of Goa to reserve seats in the Goa Assembly is genuine.
“Now the ball is in the court of the Goa Government, and therefore we demand that the Goa Government should send a detailed proposal to the Govt of India to reserve seats for Scheduled Tribes in Goa Assembly before the upcoming session of the parliament, which is scheduled to commence from 13th March 2023,” he added.
