PANAJI: The state government today has partially modified the order and permitted fully-vaccinated Goan residents and workforce to enter Goa without a Covid-19 negative report till August 5, 2021.
The Goa government had moved the court seeking permission for the entry of fully-vaccinated persons into the state without an RT-PCR negative certificate.
The petition had also sought modification of the order passed by the High Court on May 6, which denies tourists permission to enter the state without a Covid-19 negative certificate obtained not more than 72 hours prior to undertaking the journey.
The court, however, did not grant the same relaxations to tourists seeking entry to Goa.
The order penned by Justices MS Sonak and MS Jawalkar stated that only the following categories of persons (fully vaccinated and without Covid negative report) are allowed to enter the state:
The workforce, ie. persons who enter the state of Goa for purposes of work in industries, labour force, construction, etc
The people who enter Goa for purposes of business
Residents of Goa who are now stranded outside Goa for the pandemic related or other such issues
Residents of Goa who are required to travel for work, medical reasons, outside the state and return back after a few days
After granting interim relief on Monday, the High Court posted the matter for further consideration on August 5, 2021.
