The most iconic building in the State, the State Raj Bhavan will in future not host the Governor of Goa as the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant announced the construction of new Raj Bhavan, which will be next at the start of new financial year.
Dr. Pramod Sawant announced the decision to construct new premises for Raj Bhavan and suggested to carry on the procedures like identifying of land, its design, work of which could be tendered before April 2021.
Dr. Sawant informed this while reviewing the ongoing maintenance work of Raj Bhavan and its restoration at his residence Altinho Panaji today.
The Chief Minister said the existing centuries old building has been declared as heritage building by the Archaeological Survey of India.
The Chief Minister stressed on to sustain the originality and uniqueness of the building of the existing building.
The Chief Secretary, Shri Parimal Rai, IAS suggested to have sufficient land for the landing of three helicopters and also suggested to consider other aspects of the building.
Principal Chief Engineer, Parsekar assured that the maintenance of existing building would be done properly and the uniqueness of the building would be preserved.
Secretary to Governor Rupesh Kumar Thakur IAS; Principal Chief Engineer, PWD, Uttam Parsekar and Chief Engineer WRD, Pramod Badami Chief Architect, PWD, Merwin Gomes and others attended the meeting.
