Panaji: Goa Congress on Wednesday said that a Narkasur Competition organised by Tourism Department illegally on a Housing Board Land in Porvorim has also hurt the sentiments of Sanatan Dharma.
“I demand Power Minister Sudin Dhavlikar who earlier blamed Congress Party should now dare to condemn BJP Government for hurting sentiments of Hindus,” stated Congress Media Cell Chairman Amarnath Panjikar.
In a Press Conference held at Congress House today, Amarnath Panjikar charged that the Narkasur Competition went on till 8 am on the Diwali Day, thus breaking the tradition of burning effigy of Demon Narkasura at dawn.
Press Conference was attended by North Goa District General Secretary Pranav Parab, Cumbharjua block President Vishal Volvoikar and St Cruz block President John Nazareth.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte must explain why he himself was absent for the Prize Distribution Ceremony held on 13th November at Porvorim.
“I charge that Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Union Minister Shripad Naik and Rohan Khaunte kept away from the function fearing questioning from Congress Workers,” said Amarnath Panjikar.
He said Tourism Department has spent crores of public money on the event which eventually became a flop show with the local MLA and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte staying away.
“Only one Gaddar ( Betrayor) went for the Prize Distribution as he is habitual of going anywhere,” taunted Amarnath Panjikar.
It is shame on BJP Government who has no respect for traditions of Sanatan Dharma. Western Music was played during the Competition by the senseless Tourism Department. This is a stupid act by the Department which is actually responsible to showcase true culture of Goa to tourists, said Amarnath Panjikar.
