As part of its efforts to highlight the natural heritage of India, Raj Bhavan will be hosting a daylong symposium on the traditional trees of India ‘Vriksha Vvgnanika Sadassu’ (Get – together to share knowledge on trees on April 21,2024 at 10 am at the New Durbar Hall Raj Bhavan. After the inaugural session that will be graced by the Hon’ble Governor P.S Sreedharan Pillai ,Chairman of the National Biodiversity Authority Shri. C.A. Reddy, VC of Goa University Prof Harilal .B. Menon and Shri. P. Radhakrishnan, eminent writer of Kerala. There will be a technical session in which 11 experts including 3 from Goa will be presenting papers on interesting topics related to the traditional trees of India followed by a brief Q&A session.
This Symposium is an earnest endeavour by Raj Bhavan to create awareness and deeper understanding of the importance of trees in the life and culture of the people of India. The traditions, rituals and customs of the ancient past have a profound connection to ecology and environment and it is hoped that this event will help to highlight our rich ecological heritage and that our people particularly the younger generation would be inspired to carry on the wonderful traditions of our ancestors.
