PANAJI: Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade felicitated Former Deputy Chief Minister and President of Goa Sepak Takraw Association and Chairman of Sepak Takraw Federation of India Shri Chandrakant Kavlekar for Goa’s achievement in Sepak Takraw during the ongoing 37th National Games in Goa.
Goa’s Sepak Takraw men’s and women’s teams won 6 gold, along with 1 silver and bronze each. The felicitation function was held at Pernem. “I congratulate Kavlekar and the Goan team for this achievement. The team has won 6 gold, as well as a silver and bronze. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India will look to host the Olympic Games in 2036 for the first time. We anticipate that Kavlekar, as the Chairman of Sepak Takraw Federation of India, will work towards the sport keeping the Olympics in mind,” he said. In tune with the ‘Get, Set, Goa’ campaign, Kavlekar expressed happiness over the 37th National Games being held in Goa.
“Since 1998, we have been running the Sepak Takraw association in Goa. The state has won 6 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze in Sepak Takraw. In all 8 events, we have won medals. I congratulate the athletes. I am happy with the smooth organisation of the 37th National Games. I congratulate Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Sports Minister Shri Govind Gaude,” he said.
