CANACONA: Minister for Art & Culture, Tribal Welfare, Sports & Youth Affairs and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar chaired a comprehensive review meeting on Forest Rights Committee (FRC) cases of Canacona taluka on Tuesday at the PWD Rest House, Shrishthal.
The meeting reviewed the current status of FRC cases, addressed pending matters, evaluated survey reports and discussed key Green Zone issues affecting local communities.
Among those present were Director of Sports & Youth Affairs Ajay Gawade and officials from the Forest Department, Revenue Administration, Panchayats, along with members of various Forest Rights Committees in Canacona taluka.
Tawadkar emphasized the timely resolution of all pending cases, transparency in survey processes and greater coordination among departments to safeguard the rights of local communities while ensuring sustainable development.
The meeting assumes significance in the wake of concerns raised by residents of Khotigao over the proposed expansion of the Green Zone in the Khushawati district. Locals have expressed fears of displacement and have sought the intervention of the Chief Minister to protect their residential areas, temples and farmlands. :::
