PONDA: High tension situation was prevailed at Marcaim on Sunday wherein hundreds of farmers at Marcaim gathered for meeting grilled and geraoved three Committee members of “Kul Sanghatan- Bar AmreKhajan Tennant Association ” for failure to maintain Khajan Bhandara and submitting proper account of sluice gate income.
Farmers alleged scam of Rs 3 Crore by commitee and demand proper audited Statements of accounts.
Following tension this police rushed at site. The committee rejected allegations of scam.
There are around 650 farmers with around 25 lakh hectres land belong to them.
In the meeting around two hundred farmers present asked the three members committee including Chairman, Secretary and treasurer to submit detailed report of income and expenditure accounts.
However as they failed farmers got furious causing heated discussions following which Ponda Police rushed at site to maintain law and order.
The farmers alleged that the Committee failed to submitt proper accounts of income and expenditure for past five years and even alleged scam of Rs 3 Crore.
They said farmers committe is for tenure of three years but Present commitee holding charge for almost six years and that when it took charge six years ago there was almost balance of Rs 1 Crore in its account.
Further Every year sluice gate income is earned through auction but they have no audit reports of accounts of income and expenditure for repairs on Bandhara.
Farmers called today meeting following breach in Bhandara last month which forced them to keep their land fallow. The farmers were unhappy as the Committee failed to repair the huge breach in Khajan Bandhara leading to keep the khajan land fallow which irked hundreds of farmers.
They were unhappy over explanations given by Committee members . The Committee members said they could not take work on breach in Bandhara as they could not operate Bank account and withdraw money.
Police were present to maintain law and order.
Meanwhile the Three member committee rejected allegations of scam.
They said that they will present the audited account after one week time. As they were having problems in removing money from bank account they could not take repair work on time.
