VELSAO: Residents of Velsao on Wednesday once again staged a protest against the ongoing railway double-tracking project, alleging that the work has blocked their traditional right of way and left several homes without proper vehicle access.
The protesters claimed that nearly 20 houses have become inaccessible to vehicles following the laying of the additional railway track. They said the situation has caused serious inconvenience and raised concerns over the safety of residents.
Locals expressed fear that ambulances, fire tenders and other emergency service vehicles would be unable to reach the affected houses during medical emergencies or accidents. They pointed out that many elderly residents live in the area and warned that delayed emergency response could put lives at risk.
The residents urged the Railway authorities to immediately restore safe and adequate access to the affected homes before the double-tracking project progresses further. They said the issue must be resolved at the earliest to ensure that essential services can reach the locality without obstruction.
