PANAJI: The controversy surrounding alleged vulgar remarks by Ajay Kholkar against RGP President Shavina Naik Shirodkar has escalated, with Shirodkar appealing to women across Goa to unite against what she termed an attack on women’s dignity.
Shirodkar maintained that the issue should not be viewed as an internal RGP matter but as a larger question of respect and dignity for women. She urged women across political affiliations to come forward and condemn the alleged remarks.
Taking aim at the BJP Mahila Morcha, she alleged that it had failed to stand up for women’s issues and was instead preoccupied with personal matters. She also alleged that the BJP was supporting the RGP led by Manoj Parab.
In a show of protest, Shirodkar, accompanied by RGP supporters, staged a demonstration near the Sai Baba Temple in Chimbel. Launching a sharp attack on Kholkar, she said, “We have to show Ajay Kholkar his place. We should beat him and slap him.”
Meanwhile, Kholkar launched a counterattack against St. Andre MLA Viresh Borkar, challenging him to provide evidence for the allegation that ₹24 lakh had been stolen from the RGP account. Kholkar even challenged Borkar to inspect his house if the accusation was true.
Addressing the controversy over his alleged remarks against Shirodkar, Kholkar said, “It was her mistake, not mine.”
He further questioned Borkar’s political standing, invoking the support of the ST community in his election and declaring, “We, the people of the ST community, made you an MLA.” He went on to issue a political warning, stating, “I will end your political career.”
