CANACONA: As part of the ‘Government at your Doorstep’ initiative, chief minister Dr Pramod Swant launched the day-long programme at Government Higher Secondary School at Mastimoll in Canacona on Saturday; those present included the local MLA and deputy speaker Isidore Fernandes and who’s who of local BJP unit.
The Government at your doorstep initiative is aimed at grievance redressal and to ensure that every resident of Goa can take the full benefits of the various official schemes was launched by the chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Saturday morning at the premises of Government Higher Secondary School premises.
While speaking, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that Goa state is marching towards swayampurna, and the state has all the resources to achieve it.
The swayampurna Mitra visits the different villages in Goa to motivate people to grow vegetables, fruits, flowers, produce meat, and rear fish to take Goa towards the Swayampurna Goa.
Sawant informed those present that a youth from Darbhandora practising farming earned 35 lakh per year and exhorted the residents from Canacona to start farming to improve their income vis a viz take the state towards self-reliance.
“Our efforts are to reach the last person in the state with our schemes, and we are working in this direction, let’s make Goa swayampurna in each and every field”, Sawant concluded.
Local MLA and deputy speaker Isidore Fernandes, in his welcome speech, appealed to the elected representatives of Canacona to face the challenges posed by social media and the criticism by the critics.
He said that Dr Pramod Sawant is working hard, and he wants to see him as the CM for the next five years.
The foundation stone for the construction of the Davalkhazan bridge popularly called the Borim bridge, 20 cr water supply up-gradation was also inaugurated at the hands of the chief minister.
During the program, the sanction order of the compensation for the family of Covid-19 victims amounting to 2 lakhs was handed over by the chief minister.
The launching of the Government at your Doorstep initiative was attended by South Goa District collector Ruchika Katiyal, Chairperson of CMC Simon Rebello, ST commission chairman and former minister Ramesh Tawadkar, Khola ZP Shanu Velip.
Later the chief minister interacted with the elected representatives of the local bodies on the issues pertaining to their jurisdiction.
Apart from the 22 government departments assisting the public, there was a health camp and a special Covid-19 vaccination drive in the premises of the Higher Secondary.
