Panaji: The Goa Table Tennis Association’s High Performance Coaching Camp concluded successfully at Fatorda, Margao, marking the end of two weeks of intensive training aimed at enhancing the skills and competitive readiness of aspiring paddlers. Held from May 17 to 29, the camp was powered by Ultimate Table Tennis and organised by the South Goa Table Tennis Council.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of renowned ITTF Certified Level 3 Star Coach R. Rajesh, who led a comprehensive training schedule designed to sharpen players’ technical, tactical, physical and mental abilities. The camp focused on preparing participants for higher levels of competition by exposing them to modern training methods and performance-oriented coaching.
A total of 27 players took part in the camp, including 22 of Goa’s leading ranked paddlers. The presence of five outstation players added a competitive edge to the training environment and provided valuable exposure for local athletes. Among the visiting participants were Aditi A. Rao, Harkunwar Singh, Samyra Rajesh, O.S. Nihaal Ahamed and S.K. Sri Varun. Their participation helped create a challenging and high intensity atmosphere that encouraged players to raise their performance standards.
Throughout the two-week programme, athletes underwent specialised sessions aimed at improving match strategy, consistency, fitness and mental resilience. The structured training environment allowed participants to gain valuable insights into the demands of competitive table tennis while refining key aspects of their game.
The closing ceremony was attended by Irwin Cordo, along with GTTA President Sudin Verekar and Camp Coordinator Santosh Verekar, among other dignitaries. The successful completion of the camp highlighted Goa’s continued efforts to strengthen its table tennis talent pool and provide young players with opportunities to develop their skills through high quality coaching and competitive exposure.
