PANAJI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre Goa, has issued a yellow alert for North and South Goa districts, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over the next two days.
According to the district-wise warning map updated on May 8, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph are likely to occur at isolated places across Goa during the late afternoon and evening hours on May 8 and 9.
The IMD has also warned of hot and humid weather conditions likely to prevail during the late morning and afternoon hours in isolated pockets of both districts on May 8.
The warning map shows yellow alerts for May 8 and 9, indicating residents should remain alert and be prepared for adverse weather conditions. No warning has been issued from May 10 to 14, with green signals displayed for the remaining days of the forecast period.
The Meteorological Centre Goa has advised citizens to exercise caution during thunderstorm activity and avoid unnecessary outdoor movement during periods of lightning and strong winds.
