Margao: The youth of Tilamola Parish came together in an inspiring display of sportsmanship and community spirit at an Indoor Sports Tournament held on Sunday at the Our Lady Mother of the Poor High School Sports Hall, Tilamola. Organized exclusively for the registered youth of the parish, the tournament began at 3:30 p.m. with an opening prayer, setting the tone for an afternoon filled with camaraderie, competition, and celebration.
Designed to encourage unity, healthy rivalry, and deeper fellowship among the parish youth, the event offered a lively platform for participants to showcase their talents, build friendships, and strengthen bonds within the community.
The tournament featured thrilling competitions in carrom, table tennis, and badminton, highlighting the energy, enthusiasm, and skill of the young participants. The sports hall buzzed with excitement as matches unfolded and supporters cheered for their favorites.
Adding a special charm to the day was the presence of chief guest Mr. Franky Fernandes. A major highlight of the tournament was the exhibition table tennis match that saw Fr. Aldrin D’Costa and Fr. Denrish D’Costa take on Mr. Franky Fernandes and Fr. Aidan Fernandes. The friendly yet competitive match, officiated by Mr. Reagan Costa, was met with thunderous applause and ended with Mr. Fernandes and Fr. Aidan emerging victorious.
In the carrom event, officiated by Master Vivon Costa, Levito Dias was crowned the winner, while Joshua Gomes took the runner-up title. The table tennis matches, overseen by Fr. Aldrin D’Costa, saw Samford Dasilva claim the top prize, with Esban Fernandes finishing second. The badminton competition, under the supervision of Mr. Ivon Coutinho, concluded with Cassius Fernandes securing the winner’s trophy and Preston Fernandes placing as runner-up.
The tournament concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners were felicitated with trophies in recognition of their efforts and achievements. A heartfelt vote of thanks marked the close of the event, celebrating not just athletic excellence but also the spirit of unity, joy, and active youth participation within the Tilamola Parish community.
