CANACONA: A traditional pathway developed with refined steps on the way to the Ward’ Mand’ at Indrawada in Gaondongrim village, funded under Zilla panchayat funds, is dedicated to the locals by Village Sarpanch.
Gaondongrim sarpanch Yeshwant (Dhillon) Dessai inaugurated the developed traditional pathway by cutting a ribbon in the presence of ZP (Poinguinim) Shobhana Velip, ward panch Anand Velip and villagers.
The 50 metres long pathway almost on a hillock is developed by constructing concrete steps with pavers at the cost of Rs.4.30 Lakhs under the Zilla Funds in ward no.10 (Indrawada) of Gaondongrim Village. The pathway leading to the ward ‘Mand’ is traditionally used by locals during Shigmo, Divjam and Zatra to proceed to the plantations.
Sarpanch Dessai thanked ZP Shobhana Velip for extending the benefits to the village and said the village will always expect more work from the ZP.
A Social activist Ulhas Gaonkar, who is known to have pursued the request with the ZP through the Ex-Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes, is also praised by Sarpanch and ZP for following up with the proposal.
Stating she had completed two years as ZP (Poinguinim), ZP Shobhana Velip thanked ex-Canacona MLA/Ex-Dy.Speaker Isidore Fernandes helped her to get the works sanctioned for the benefit of the people.
“Besides these works, in my two years tenure, I have also carried out/completed beautification works with Pavers/ Shed at Chall-Gaondongrim, Beautification at Loliem-Polem village, A Drinking Water-Well at Wellwada-Poinguinim, A Irrigation Canal at Karvem(Gaondongrim), and obtained orders for a Toilet at Badsorem (Gaodngorim), retaining Wall at welwada(Poinguinim), Community -Mand Bhutpal (Poinguinim) and files for three more works are under process. As a ZP, I can propose only a maximum of 4 works under 5th Finance and another 2-4 works (depending upon amounts) under RID; however, I often find obtaining a NOC very difficult, for which I used to be previously fully assisted by ex-Dy.
