PANAJI: The Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) has welcomed the recent statement made by the CM, Dr Pramod Sawant, on the government’s willingness to find a solution to extend sound permissions beyond 10 pm for events held in zones which do not affect residents.
“MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) and weddings constitute the fastest-growing segment of the Industry,” said TTA Jack Ajit Sukhija, President of TTAG.
He said an event organiser for an event today has to get NOCs from –
A) Fire and Emergency services
B) PWD
C) Electricity
D) CRZ if in CRZ Area
E) Tourism
F) Local Body
G) Police.
“After getting these NOCs he then applies to the collector with a further 6-8 affidavits for his final permission. We would request the CM to move the entire process online to an app with the ESG as the nodal body as is done for Film shoots,” he said.
Various copyright bodies charge exorbitant and arbitrary charges for the licenses and hence TTAG requested the CM and the home department to verify the legality of such agencies and if found to be to rationalise the rates.
“Such steps will help in facilitating the growth of the Industry and add to the state’s economic growth, tax collection, and employment in line with the Hon PM’s vision of making India and Goa a premier event destination,” he said.
