PANAJI: Panaji MLA and Revenue Minister Babush Monserrate, reacting to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, said the Election Commission will examine the issue and take an appropriate decision.
Monserrate said the matter falls within the purview of the Election Commission and indicated that the electoral authority would look into the concerns raised regarding the SIR process.
His remarks come amid allegations by the Congress of irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls in the Panaji constituency. Congress leaders have raised questions over the deletion of voter names and the functioning of Booth Level Officers during the exercise.
The Election Commission is expected to examine the concerns and take a decision based on the applicable electoral procedures.
