The spurt of cases in Tulip Diagnostics, Verna has become a major cause of concern for the State government as 20 p.c of tests have shown positive so far and is likely to spread to other industries around.
“I would also like to mention that the situation from Tulip Diagnostics is very very grim. It gives a matter of lot of concern for the us,” said health Secretary Nila Mohanan.
She said that there were 26 earlier and on Monday 54 more employees were found positive.
“67 samples are yet to be tested. The very high positivity rate of almost 20 p.c is a cause of worry. This is really a cause of concern,” she said adding ”I take this opportunity to appeal to all the industrial units, industrial estates, especially the Pharma companies and all work places in Goa to take all necessary precautions and adhere to guidelines of MHA opening of workplaces.”
To a query, the Health secretary replied that no employees came to work from outside Goa as State has not permitted any employees to leave the station and return.
“They sought permission but we did not give. Actually the source of infection for Tulip is from Mangor,” she added.
