PANAJI: While stating that insults will not be tolerated, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today has condemned statements made by Shreha Dhargalkar against Devi Lairai and Shantadurga.
Chief Minister was speaking to media reporters after arriving from New Delhi after a hectic round of campaigning for NDA.
“I condemn such statements made by Shreha Dhargalkar. They have been running NGOs under the garb of helping certain sections of society. The government will not stay silent on such religious issues,” said Sawant.
He further said that based on the instructions, Shreha was arrested under relevant sections.
“Dhargalkar’s comments on deities saying such “insults” will not be tolerated. Under the guise of NGOs some people are running extortion rackets,” said Sawant.
Sawant said that a strong message has gone forward to the people at large that no one will be spared if they speak against any religious deities.
“I will speak to the police department and society registration to conduct an inquiry. This will also help us in adding upright sections to the case,” he added.
Sawant also said that just donating to some people during COVID-19 does not make it a registered NGO.
Chief Minister also said that he will monitor the day-to-day investigation and he will also investigate such so-called NGOs running extortion rackets.
“People without fear should register complaints against such people and NGO’s” CM added.
