PANAJI: The Goa State Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation Limited has announced the Educational Loan Schemes for Scheduled Castes and other backward Classes
Under the Educational Loan Schemes – NSFDC, the loan is provided to students belonging to scheduled castes for pursuing higher education at recognized educational institutions/universities and for recognized courses in Professional/Technical streams at the graduate and post-graduate levels such as Medicine, Engineering, M.B.A., M.C.A., Hospitality Management, I.I.T. etc. A loan of up to Rs.20,00,000/- (for studies in India) will be provided at 4% interest (3.5% for women beneficiaries), with a 5% contribution from the promoters. Similarly, for a maximum loan amount of Rs. 30,00,000/- (for studies abroad), the interest rate is 4% (3.5% for women beneficiaries), with a 5% promoter contribution.
The repayment period is 5-7 years, with 60-84 monthly instalments based on the loan amount. Beneficiaries of Scheduled Castes living below the poverty line are eligible for a subsidy of Rs. 10,000/- or 50% of the Project Cost under the Government of India’s Special Central Assistance schemes.
Under the Educational Loan Schemes belonging to other backward classes, the educational loan will be provided at a simple rate of interest to students belonging to Other Backward Classes for pursuing professional or technical education at the graduate and higher level from recognized institutions/universities and for recognized courses in Engineering, Medicines, Computers, and Hospitality Management etc. Approved by appropriate authorities such as AICTE, Medical Council of India, U.G.C. etc.
Under the Educational Loan Schemes for Other Backward Classes, educational loans will be provided at a simple rate of interest to students from Other Backward Classes for pursuing professional or technical education at the graduate and higher level from recognized institutions/universities and for recognized courses in Engineering, Medicine, Computers, and Hospitality Management etc, approved by appropriate authorities such as AICTE, medical council of India, UGC ETC. A loan up to Rs. 15,00,000/- (for studies in India), rate of interest is 4% (3.5% for women beneficiaries) and promoters contribution is 5%, and loan up to Rs. 20,00,000/- (for studies abroad), rate of interest is 4% ( 3.5% for women beneficiaries) and promoters contribution is 5%. The repayment period is 5-7 years after completion of the course.
