CANACONA – Van- Mahotsav celebration was held by planting a special fruit saplings tree plantation drive at the Campus of Lokvishwas Pratisthan at Mokhard Bhatpal on Thursday.
Lokvishwas Pratisthan, a special school for mentally and physically disabled children’s situated at Mokhardmol, Shristhal, held Vanamahostav in association with the Biodiversity Management Committee, V. P. Shristhal which is assisted by the Forest Department, Cotigao Range of Canacona Taluka respectively.
Over 68 numbers of school children participated in this tree plantation drive and some of the medicinal tree saplings were planted on the school campus. All the teachers of a special school and students will take Care of these tree plants, said one of the schools in charge Mrs Aditi Phal Gaonkar. The main motto behind this tree plantation is to spread awareness of forest conservation and to save the environment.
On the occasion, special guests were invited such as Mr Kamalakar Mhalshi, Retired Teacher, Mr Vinay Tubki, Chairman of B. M. C. Shristhal, Mr Sushant Lolayekar, Panchayat Secretary, Mrs Kamat, businesswoman and proprietor of Raj Associates, Mr Shirish Pai, member of BMC, Special Representatives from Cotigao forest Department, Mrs Chanda Dessai, BMC member etc were present to make this drive successful.
All the dignitaries made motivational speeches to “Save Trees and Save Earth” to protect and conserve our environment.
