VASCO: Police have registered a case of cheating involving an alleged fraudulent investment in a residential project, resulting in a financial loss of ₹15 lakh to the complainant.
The offence was registered under sections 420 r/w 34 IPC following a complaint by Sankalp Lavu Shetgaonkar, a resident of Island View Apartment, near the BSNL Telephone Exchange in Chicalim, Mormugao.
According to the complaint, the alleged incident occurred between November 2021 and January 2022. The accused, identified as Vidisha Vijaynath Gawande and Vijaynath Kelurao Gawande, both residents of Postwada, Honda, Sattari, Goa, allegedly conspired to induce the complainant into investing ₹15 lakh in a residential complex project located in Dodamarg, Maharashtra.
The complainant, believing in the assurances of the accused, made payments on multiple occasions. However, despite promises of possession of a flat in the complex, the accused neither handed over the possession of the flat nor refunded the invested amount, thereby defrauding the complainant of the entire sum.
The case is currently under investigation, with PSI Carey Fernandes of Vasco Police Station
