VASCO: Vasco will soon get a new dedicated market for meat products ( Chicken and Mutton ) besides a huge market complex to accommodate fruit and vegetables vendors .
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar speaking to reporters on Monday said that he had recently met Minister Vishwajeet Rane along with the Mormugao Municipal Council ( MMC ) Chief Officer Deepesh Priolkar in the presence of Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho to discuss various issues related to the Municipality and Health departments
” We have seen that the chicken Market in Vasco is in a very bad state and located in a very remote area . We have now asked the Minister for a new building that will serve as a dedicated market for Chicken and Mutton vendors. This new market will also help get all the other vendors selling chicken and Mutton from different areas at one location. Vasco also has the distinction of being the only city where people buy vegetables from roadsides and we have requested the Minister to allow us to have a huge market complex like that in Panjim so that we can accommodate all the vendors selling fruits , vegetables and other items under one roof in a systematic manner. The Minister has asked me to move the proposal and that he will sanction these projects immediately ” said Salkar
Salkar added that discussions were also held on the ambitious Swatantra Path beautification project
“We will start the work on this Swatantra Path beautification project by October this year at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crores . We have already completed under ground cabling works and laying of new pipelines. Vasco will get a new and clean Swatantra Path because we will also plant new trees along the road as part of beautification . ” Said Salkar
